Eight complaints lead city to reduce Afrofest to one day

It appears the long-standing Afrofest was reduced from a two-day event to a single day because of eight complaints.

According to Bruce Hawkins, Senior Communications Coordinator at the City of Toronto, the city received eight complaints about noise at last year’s festival, which drew an estimated 60,000 people daily.

This is in striking contrast to what Beaches-East York Councillor Mary-Margaret McMahon said on Wednesday, when she said her office received multiple noise complaints.
